ABSTRACT

                        This  thesis  is  of  three  objections,  namely  :-  (1) To study  the  derivation  of  the Birthday Buddha Images  in Buddhism,  (2) To study  the style and  the worship  belief  about  the  Birthday Buddha  Images,  (3) To analytically study  the  principles  of constructing  the Birthday Buddha Images  in  Thai  Societies.

                        From the research, it is found that the derivation of the Birthday Buddha Images in Buddhism is  Buddhist activity practice throughout 45 years  by the Buddha. This is  the cause of the creation various Buddha images for the recollection of abasement reminisce Buddhagunas :-   1. Parisuddhiguna  2. Pannaguna  3. MahaKarunadiguna.  The Birthday Buddha Images did  not  appear in the former periods.  However,  from the evidence available in the Text Book in the 3rd.   reign of Rattanakosin Period, found that Various Buddha Images according to the Nine celestial bodies for being worshipped in  a  skillt ceremony,  namely :-  (1) The Sun, the Buddha posture Dedicating the Eye (2) The Moon, the Buddha Image posture prohibiting the relatives (3) The Mars, The Reclining Buddha Image (4) The Holy Wednesday Buddha posture  holding  an  alms  bowl  (5) The Holy Thursday  Buddha posture in  meditation or  the Buddha posture  attaining  enlightenment  (6) The Holy Friday  Buddha posture  meditating  (7) The Holy Saturday  Buddha posture of nagaprok  (8) The Holy Rahu Buddha posture Palelai  (9) The Holy  Ketu  Buddha posture  sitting  in cross  legged diamond.

                        The style and worship belief about the Birthday Buddha Images are the principles  of belief  in astrology  which is genus of a subjecfs  in Brahminism  defining the  style of  various Buddha Images for the Birthday Buddha Images instead of  worshipping  the idols of  the angel of  the nine celestial bodies and strengthen encouragement with the determination of the Paritra to be chanted to prevent trom the concerning effecf at  nine celestial bodies partaking the age  instead  of the Brahmin chanting for the person to practice the method worshiping the nine celestial bodies, because of the belief in  the Triple Gems and the belief  in worshipping the  nine celestial bodies that bring happiness.

                           To analytically study  the  principles  of constructing  the Birthday Buddha Images  in  Thai  Societies. shows the ways of lives  in Thai  Societies. Thus the Birthday Buddha Images are worshipped as the instruments to the Thai people,  because most of  the Thai  people  have faith  to Buddhism  by paying homage to the Buddha  Image  which  is  the  representative of  the Buddha  and the Thai people have brought the Doctrinal principles which are in compliance with the Buddha Image to be applied to their daily lives.
