ABSTRACT
This research has three objectives, namely: 1. to study the concept and the principles for the reinforcement virtue society according to the Buddhist view. 2. to study the model and the procedures for the reinforcement virtue society under the concept of the bank of goodness by the unit of community training at Huangom Sub-District, Phan, Chiang Rai, and 3. to test and propose the model for the reinforcement virtue society in the Buddhist integration of applied to the unit of community training at Northern Region.
This study is used both qualitative and quantitative analysis by using the documentary research and field study i.e. interviewing and asking the concerned persons who apply the reinforcement virtue society under the concept of the bank of goodness . The community training unit is in 7 Provinces; Chiang Mai, Payao, Lampang, Prea, Nakonsavan, Tak and Maehongson.
From the research, it is found that the good and the virtues are the important foundation of the society. It is the ideal that will bring the benefit and the happiness to everyone, harmless, devastation and no exploitation for each other. The generosity and the parceling would be developed creatively for the individuals in the society on the body, mind and wisdom.
Buddhism consists of the 8 virtues principles in developing the societies, namely : the righteousness, the equality, the justice, the peace, the contentment, the harmony, the dependence, the faith and the wisdom. The societies which have all these virtues will find peace and generosity. The mentioned virtues can help the people to be honest and be able to get rid of the defilements and to realize the Dhamma.
The establishment of the bank of goodness by Wat Srimulmaung community and people at Huangom Sub-District, Phan, Chiang Rai took place from the work unit called “The Sub-District Training Unit of the People”. The setting up of the bank of goodness is of two viewpoints namely : 1.to prevent the bad things, emphasizing to develop the people with the good quality and be able to live with a happy life 2. to develop the process for the goodness movement by applying the principles in Buddhism using in term of the goodness scores. The main goal is to propagate Buddhism, reinforce the goodness and virtues society etc. The result of having the bank of goodness is help people in the community to live happily and become the learning society. The return of having the score of goodness can be exchanged for goods.
The community training of nortern region has the same the procedure and principle, that is application of eight principles, they are, principle of morality and culture, health, right livelihood, peace, welfare study, public aids, gratefulness, and harmony into the development of personnel and society. The aim of procedure is to propagate Buddhism, practice following the Buddhist principle and local culture, social development, conservation of natural resource, environment, management of social welfare, and community aids. |
