Abstract

ABSTRACT

The  objectives  of  this  research  are:- 1) to study  Loving-Kindness  in  the  Buddhism Scriptures 2)  to study Loving-Kindness in  the  Christian  Scriptures 3) to  analytically study    Loving-Kindness  in  supporting  the  peace  for  the  man  and  the  societies.

The  result  of  the  study  showed that  Loving-Kindness in  Theravāda  Buddhism  Scriptures means the spread  and the cultivation of  love with the  equal  minds in all living beings. There  are  3 ways  of  expression  of  Loving-Kindness,  namely :- 1)  the spread  and  the cultivation of  love in  action  2)  the  spread  and  the cultivation  of  love in  words  3)  the  spread and  the cultivation of  love  in  thought.  The  Buddha  emphatically  told  human  beings to  have  Loving-Kindness  in  animals  and  He  also  told  human  beings to  have  the view  that all living beings are equal. The Buddha prescribed a model  for the  human  beings  to follow  and  taught  how  to use  and  spread  Loving-Kindness  by  letting  ourselves  to  live  on  the good  base in all actions;  good  conduct  in words and good conduct in thought. The  Loving-Kindness that  sustains  the  world is a principle  which causes  the human beings  and  animals to  live  together happily.  It is also considered  as  the crux  of  Buddhism  to reach  the  heavens  and  Nirvāna.

The  result of  the  study  was also found  that Loving-Kindness in the  Christian  Scriptures  means  the love in God with all  heart and  with  whole soul  and  with all  mind  and,   it  is  also  means love  your  neighbor as  yourself.  There  are  3  ways  of  showing  the  love, namely :- 1) the  show  of  politeness  in  action  2)  the  show  of  politeness  in  words 3)  the  show  of politeness  in  thought.  The  Jesus  Christ  emphatically  told   human  beings to  have  love in  God  and  fellowmen  In  this  respect,  Jesus  Christ  was  regarded as  the  best  example  of  the politeness in  action, in words  and  in  thought.  The  Loving-Kindness  binds human  being  to  live  together  happily  and  it  is also considered  to  be the crux of  Christian  religion  to  reach  God.

From  the  result  of  the  analytical study  of  Loving-Kindness  in  supporting  the  peace  for  the  persons  and  the  societies, found  that 1) Loving-Kindness can  develop  the  mind  with  morality and  improve  human  beings  behaviour  in a  proper  manner  2) Loving-  Kindness can create  happiness  for others  and  create  love  for   family  3)  Loving-Kindness     can  reduce conflicts, create  justice in  the  hope  to achieve in  societies. So, The Buddha  and  Jesus Christ,  taught  Loving-Kindness  two  ways,  namely :-  1. to  solve the  problems  faced by human  beings 2) to create the peace  to oneself and  others  and  societies  respectively. Therefore the  Buddha  and  Jesus  Christ  taught  people  to have  love,  and  best  wishes  to  one  another  and  environment,  for    living  together  without  hurting  one  another.
