Abstract
This thesis is of three objectives, namely:- To study the Doctrinal Principles in the Vammika Sutta, to study the hindrances and to study the Practice of Vipassanā Meditation which the handrancesas the tempera ments. This study is carried out by collecting Data from Tipițaka, Atthakathā, TĪkā and other connected scriptures which are composed. Explained andverified, by the experts.
From the study, it is found that the Vammika Sutta is the discourse preaches by the Buddha to Ven. Kumarakassapa Thera with comparision of the Anthill which consists of 15 Doctrines, namely:- body, person, confuse (Vitok) in activity, Phra Arahanta Sammā sambuddha, Sekha-Bhikkhu, the Noble Wisdom, having the effort, Avijjā, the mental reneasiness out of anger, the Doubt, the 5 hindrances, the attachment to 5 aggregates, 5 sources of sensual pleasure and the Canker – free one.
From the study of the Doctrinal Principle in Vammika Sutta, It is found the 5 hindrances are:- Kāmachanda nivaravaņa, thing preventing mind to act goodness. Its means; attract by 5 Sexuality is, body or shape, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Refer to Lakkhanā dicatuka means; hold fast to feeling., Byāpāda nivaraņa, the thing preventing mind to act goodness. Its means; anger to injure whoever unlikeable. Refer to Lakkhanā dicatuka means, aggressive.;Thīnamiddha nivaraņa, the thing prevening mind to act goodness. Its means; sadness. Refer to Lakkhanā dicatuka means, unstimulate to activity. Uddhacca-kukkucca nivaraņa, the thing preventing mind to act goodness. Its means; confusion. Refer to Lakkhanā dicatuka means, unrelaxing. And Vicikicchā nivaraņa, the thing preventing mind to act goodness. Its means, unbelive to be appear. Refer to Lakkhanā dicatuka mom means, doubt fulness.These nivaraņas are the Doctrinal principles preventing the people from attaining the goodness.
These 5 hindrances are one of the group of Dhammā nupassanā. Satipațțhāna which are the principle of developing of the Vipassanā Meditation according to the Four Foun dations of Mindfulness. In developing Vipassanā Bhāvanā with the consideration of Nivaraņa-Dhammā. The principles of fixing mind in knowing the 5 Nivaraņas are that the Practiser must clearly the rising falling of mind fulness in knowing the Nivaraņas. This point is only the normal state arising in the Vipassanā Practiser’s mind. The practiser sused the principle of Yonisomanasikāra in knowing the 5 Nivaraņas. It is the knowledge of the Doctrinal states of the form and the Norm Pahātabba-dhamma; Thing to be abandoned or ignoreance to feeling. The Practiser will see nearly appear and disappear in the states of the Three Characteristics with the Insight Knowleage.
