Abstract
This thesis is of two main objectives :- 1) to study the principles of Mahahatthipadopama Sutta 2) to study the Dhatumanasikara Pabba by the Tipitaka, the commentaries, the sub-commentaries, composed narrated and verified by expert
From the study, it is found that Mahahatthipadopama Sutta is the Sutta which Ven. Sariputta compaire with the feet of the animals. That is to say the feet of all the animal are concluded the feet of the elephants. The Kusala-Dhammas are included in the four Noble truths. The names of the Suttas were established with the important points which explain the details of Dukkha-Ariyasacca showing that the human beings are of suffering, becouse they hold the Aggregate which is the Upadana- Khandha consisting of the form Aggregate and the norm Aggregate. The Form Aggregate consists of only 4 element,by showing the point that the feeling of suffering arises from one of Mahabhutarupas which become more serious. It also mentions the practice vipassanā to be away from Suffering.
This is one way of practising Insight Meditation ,That the Four Foundation of mindfulness, namely :- Kayanupassana, Vedananupassana, Cittanupassana and Dhammanupassana. In the consisderation of the body in the body, Dhatumanasikara-Babba is one of the methods of practising the Insight Meditation. This practice is the same as the practice in Mahahatthipadopama Sutta. The consideration of the body consised of the 4 elements, namely : earth element, the fire element the wind element and the water element. Up to seeing of the three characteristic of elements. They are two methods of the practice regarding the elements ,namely: 1 short method by fixing the charactiristics and the manners of the elements. 2 the detailes method by fixing and considering the elements into different parths.
The development of Dhatumanasikara by fixing the differents, if the characteristic of the element appears, the must bring such the state to consider. The practiser can notice the clear characteristics of the element, the Pathavidhuatu of the strong and weak Characteristic the Apodhatu is of the obsorbing characteristic Tejodhatu is of the characteristic of heat and Vayodhatu is of the characteristic of loosing and tightness. The firm mindfulness can consider the doctrinal state which can go to the temperament of Vipassana which causes practiser is bored of the elements and does not strong hold the forms (Rupas). |
