Abstract
This research has three objectives, namely, (1) to study the history and the development of the psychology in the west, (2) to study the concept of the Buddhist Psychology in the Theravada Buddhist Scriptures, and (3) to analytically study the concept of Buddhist Psychology in Theravada Buddhist Scriptures with social application.
The results of research were as follows:
the concept of the Buddhist Psychology is pertaining to mind and the procedure of mind that are regarded to have the power to control body , thereby the mind is not departed from the body because the mind and body work together, In terms of Abhidhammatriptaka, mind of human beinge or animas has the delicacy which can be classified variously. When analyzing the idea of Buddhist Psychology in comparison with the idea of West Psychology, it was found that west Psychology studies the mind and the working procedure of the mind in terms of outside behavior by scientific experiment, while Buddhist studies the mind and the working procedure of the mind in terms of the practical experiences in dharma both in concentration development and insight development with the aim of developing mental potential which can overcome or control the defilements analysing the idea about Buddhist psychology in the Tripitaka, it was found that the idea about the mind in Buddhism can be applied in daily life in many aspects, such as learning, teaching ,self development and the solution of suffering problems by Buddhist counseling effectively used by the Buddha.
